Site Seeing: Snowus Maximus

A Monday snowstorm (aptly named Maximus) means chai tea and giving my bloglovin' account some well-needed attention. Here's what I'm reading today:

Start ups: What you need to know about {Paper}, Facebook's new content reader (and more!) which launched today.

Interior Design: One Kings Lane has come out with {Hunter's Alley}, a new online marketplace where anyone can sell their home design goodies. Not as many bargains as Craigslist or your local flea market, but definitely more affordable than say 1st Dibs.

Fashion: Fashion Week starts here in New York this week. Get the full schedule {here}.

Comedy: A fan of Portlandia? Get $15 tickets (for those that are 35 and under) for "A Conversation with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein" in New York City {here}

Personal Style - Los Angeles

So much of our personalities are reflected in the clothes we buy and wear. Maybe that's why I have such a thing for seeing stylemakers' closets. Of course, the big daddy of these websites is the {the Covateur}, but lately some others have come onto the scene. One of my new faves is {Closet Visit}. I love how photographer Jeana Sohn chooses a wide variety of Los Angeles women to showcase, but the vibe is very consistent - easy, breezy Southern California style.

Below, some of my absolute favorites.

Monday Morning Blues

image: {Country Living}

No matter how much you may like your job, there are very few people that look forward to Monday mornings. So what can you do to make the start of the workweek that much more bearable? Here's what I do:

1. Sunday: So much of your Monday morning depends on your Sunday. Two things I try to do every Sunday: Get up no more than an hour later than the time I get up for work so I can get to bed at a reasonable hour on Sunday (nothing worse than waking up groggy) and pick out my work clothes so that I can spend my time focused on my morning routine, which brings us to number 2.

2. Monday morning: A routine is key. Mine looks like this: Wake up, do a quick {child's pose stretch} while still in bed, put on gym clothes (which I've left by the door the night before) and head to the gym for a 30 minute high-intensity cardio class or a run, return home, turn on some tunes and make a quick fruit smoothie (I love this {ginger-peach one}), shower, get ready for work and I'm out the door. For a peek into how another West Village gal starts her day, check {this} out.

Mondays tend to be very busy for me, so once I'm at the office, I try and spend 5 minutes making a list of to-do items for the day. Then after taking some time to chat with co-workers about their weekends, I get started on my list. Usually by the time, I'm done, its already lunchtime and half the battle is over...until next Monday.

What's your Monday morning routine, and what do you do to fight the Monday morning blues? Do you wear something bright and cheerful? Or maybe start planning your upcoming weekend?

Do the Drape

No coats for us. From Milan to London to New York fashion weeks, a very nonchalant drape over the shoulders seems to be the "it" way to go.

A love for scallops.

As someone who has 12-year old girl legs, I'm usually averse to shorts. But how can I deny them when they are this pretty?

Even Kate Bosworth agrees.
