Five Best Things I Bought in 2011

I have a serious shopping problem and it isn't just limited to me. I shop for my sister, my nieces and nephews, girlfriends, man friends, my cleaning lady. So not that last person, but that's only because she thinks my wardrobe choices are somehow related to why I'm still unmarried.

In any case, 2011 was a banner shopping year* for me so without further ado, here are the five best things I purchased this year.

*This just means I spent a lot of money.

1. J. Crew Bubble Necklace

This {statement necklace} from the super stylish minds at J. Crew does double duty. Paired with a black dress for work, it's elegant and classy. On the weekends, I layer it over my comfiest gray t-shirt and jeans for a chic, pulled-together, and most importantly, easy look.

                                       2. Sequined Parker Blouse

Set in a pale pink tone and with a dramatic open back, {this sequined blouse} from Parker is the epitome of sexy. I wear mine with black jeans, super-high heels and wavy hair.

3. Bergen Blouse

The first time I walked into Aritzia in Soho, it felt like someone had taken every closet staple I had ever wished for and consolidated them into one store. The prices are high, but the pieces are so beautifully made and fit so well that they're worth it. I left with {this Bergen blouse} in black silk georgette (no longer available online, but the other colors are) and am contemplating going back for more.

                                                                          4. Zara Leather Jacket

I'd been looking for a leather jacket for months when I came across {this one} from Zara. Unlike so many others I'd seen, it has very few bells and whistles (I'm looking at you All Saints, with your confusing, ubiquitous zippers). Just super-soft leather with an incredible fit. It works equally well over a casual dress as it does over jeans and a tee.

5. T3 Styling Wand

This {little baby} creates perfect, beachy waves each and every time (à la Gisele). Get yours at Sephora and they'll even show you how to use it. And then ready yourself for some seriously hot bedhead hair!

I'm curious - what were your favorite purchases this year?

I have a few:

The few items made by my favorite Leifdottir - which had a website for one hot minute during which I made these purchase - guess I was the only one...

Two gold necklaces while I was in Israel - they are simply stylish and they bring my memories of my visit to my homeland to the forefront of my mind.

What I wish I found...the perfect pair of cold weather/snow boots I have yet to find!

What a fun post! It's nice to reflect on quality finds and not the impulse buys that this time of year can trigger ;) My favorite purchases this year were BDG jeans from Urban Outfitters (never spending $200+ on denim again), a Hot Tools curling iron, and a chic monogrammed planner for 2012 that I can't wait to use! xx

Toral, can I buy that Bergen blouse online?

Hands down, my favorite purchase of 2011 was my pair of Cole Haan Air Whitleys. Oh, AND my French Connection Song Bird funnel neck coat in Barbara Blue.

Hi - the Bergen blouse is available online - just click on the link in the post. Sadly, you'll have to go into the store for the black one.
